Never Give All The Heart – W.B.Yeats

.xix.

NEVER give all the heart, for love
Will hardly seem worth thinking of
To passionate women if it seem
Certain, and they never dream
That it fades out from kiss to kiss;
For everything that’s lovely is
But a brief, dreamy. Kind delight.
O never give the heart outright,
For they, for all smooth lips can say,
Have given their hearts up to the play.
And who could play it well enough
If deaf and dumb and blind with love?
He that made this knows all the cost,
For he gave all his heart and lost.”

  1. First Thank you for following my poetry work. Second this posting is wonderful of Yeats’ poetry work. I always remember M.M. has one of the most beautiful woman of all time. I have always had doubts about the real reasons surrounding her death, other than what the media related.

    • Why thank YOU John. Hope u check back at The Eye of Faith to see whats new with us, as we’ll be cruising ur poems.

Ur right about being skeptical over the reasons of her passing… Wiped phone records, prescription pills, deadly beauty… Why was she so unhappy? Why did she die THAT night of all nights… the media may have spun it as they wanted at the time, in her legacy, we hope people seek out the truth and understand the dark side of Hollywood.

      • Thank you Eye. You indirectly confirmed many of my doubts about her death. I just finished watching “JFK” for the third time on cable. The truth of this film on who actually killed JFK was fully revealed. Still justice has never served to the American people by the crime of Johnson and his band of criminals. Hopefully, the truth regarding Obama and the great joke upon the American people by his backers will finally be revealed. I can only pray he will then be defeated by a landside election in November 2012!

  2. I do believe she is one of the most gorgeous, smart and misunderstood women of our time. I feel a kinship with her. She was beauty. She was love. She was so broken. I feel like I know her. That she is me and I am her. The quote by Yeats explains it perfectly. How we have to be guarded. We can’t give all of our heart away. Even though we want nothing more than to do so. Thank you for sending me this link.
