E.O.F. SPRING 2018 UPDATE!

Greetings friends and followers!

It’s been a while since we’ve posted on here, so we thought we owed something to the gods of the internet! I can’t believe its been almost 7 years of us having this blog, and all the incredible things it has led us to, we couldn’t even have imagined on that fateful night we created it.

These incredible things, however, lead us to be very busy and it makes it hard to get time to create the content we know you love! So, here a little catch-up with everything we have been up to!

Spring always seems to be a busy time for us, and we have been up to some fun things. Currently we are creating a collection for one of our city’s biggest fashion events, Glamour in the Hammer. It is a wonderful event that helps support the incredible philanthropic efforts of the Good Shepherd and promoting the long history of giving they have done for those in need.

If you are in the area, tickets are still available, and are going fast! Ticket includes a fabulous fashion show featuring the city’s top designers, as well as drinks and eats from the city’s top restaurants. Definitely not to be missed. {click here for tickets}

This year, our collection +WUTHERING HEIGHTS+ hopes to bring a romantic edge to the grunge aesthetic inspired by the ghostly mood of the English moors, combining vintage fabrics and street chic style for many new one-of-a-kind pieces to add to the many creations we have made over the past {click here to see them}.

As well, as preparing for that, we are also embarking on a voyage to the 1980s with our costume design for Hamilton Theatre Inc.’sThe Wedding Singer” which has been chalk full of its own challenges, but insanely fun to sort through weird and wild 80s party fashions. The silhouettes and details of that time period are just over-the-top, and that of course, we absolutely love! Again if you are in the area, {click here} to get tickets for a wickedly funny show! Show runs May 11 – May 26.

Last but not least, we are fresh from our annual collaboration with The Vintage Marketplace, which is our city’s biggest vintage shopping event. Whilst we were berated by a historical ice storm, the event was still a success with hundreds of people making it out to shop from a myriad of local vintage vendors, with many new faces, which is always great to see our little community growing in that respect.

On top of our booth, which we were very proud of in the end, we also had the honor of producing some entertainment for the weekend. What we came up with, we never could’ve foreseen, but it all seemed to make so much sense, and was a wild way to shake up our usual fashion show segment.

Instead of a retrospective fashion show, we created the VMP DRAG FASHION FLAUNT ft. Queen Costia Sterling and Sapphyre Poison. If only you could be there to see how fantastic this show was (or maybe you were, if so, leave a comment), the Queens delivered vintage inspired numbers that ranged from Rosemary Clooney, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, and even a number from the iconic musical CHICAGO.

The most magical moment had to be when the many children who had come to the show gathered to watch the Queens, and the wonderful smiles on their faces as they watched the magic. Definitely a show for the books.

So, as you can see, we have been swamped with projects, but promise to get back more in the swing of posting on here. We have so many fabulous stories on the back burner that are just waiting to see the light of day, so definitely stay tuned…

If you have been missing us, be sure to follow us on INSTAGRAM, TWITTER, and FACEBOOK to stay up to date, and see what we are up to!

Remember we also have dozens of unique, one-of-a-kind, time traveled vintage pieces in our {SHOP} which is always changing, so do check it out, and remember to use code XIXIXI for 25% OFF at the checkout.

GUCCI’s Karaoke Chic !

If you know us, like really know us….like really really know us; you know that we love a good ol’ karaoke jam session with our friends!

There’s nothing better – you get to let loose a little (often on a strange day such as a Tuesday), maybe get a little glossed and glam, be surrounded by the best people, sing your favourite songs, and feel like a downright rockstar. Best part is, anyone can do it, and because its karaoke – no one can judge!

We found it to be great for shaking those general nerves we all have, and that fear of looking silly. Once you are on that stage, you can let it all go, and just be free.

We even took it so far as to be hosting our very own KARAOKE CABARET every second and fourth Tuesday at The Casbah, which is an awesome local venue that immediately spoke to us with its red curtain lined stage and moody lighting – very David Lynch! We have a page dedicated to it on our site, so check it out.

But, what really got us was that one of our favourite luxury brands of all time GUCCI is up on the karaoke bandwagon right along with us!!! If we thought we got glossed and glam for karaoke, Alessandro Michele takes Karaoke Chic to a whole new level….

Check out these wicked cool videos via Gucci’s awesome Instagram page.

I’m telling you, when we first saw these we flipped out (in a good way)! Glad that karaoke is some sort of fashionable trend now, because damn is it always fun!

Maybe more people will get their butts of their couch, and join us for some karaoke fun times! Granted its on a Tuesday, but its great to break up that work week with a little irreverent joy.

At least, we think so . . .

“All the Glitz and GLAMOUR IN THE HAMMER 2017”!!! Video by Style Group

In our society, it’s easy to take things for granted. Food, water, shelter- all things that we wouldn’t second guess or question as being a part of our lives, are for too many people, a day to day question of when, where, and how?

Here in Hamilton, Ontario many of these people in need are helped every year by The Good Shepherd who last year alone provided food and clothing for 61, 466 people, and not even including the thousands of tenants they shelter around the city.

For the past three years, we have had the honour of showcasing our own original vintage inspired collections at the Good Shepherd‘s fabulous night of fashion – “GLAMOUR IN THE HAMMER”.

This year the event sat upwards of 800 people, and showcased looks from 10 of the city’s unique designers including Blackbird Studios and a vintage retrospective from Milli’s boutique featuring some of the haute couture and designer fashions she has acquired over her many years providing luxury designer fashion in the steel city.

And in a society that is very focused on ‘self’ – it always feels good to feel compassion for people in need, and know that somehow through our passion for fashion we are able to help others while we do it!

Style Group is another fantastic company who lended their many talents to archiving the event, and here is a little taste of what the night was all about! Kudos to Alex Coombs for putting it altogether!

This year The Eye of Faith presented +GODDESS+ , a collection of one of a kind garments inspired by the kick ass-ness of 80s and 90s supermodels. It was a collection of pure glamour, and we are so pleased with the outcome.

We can’t wait to share our designs with you, so stay tuned!

We’ve had his lady, Ms. Neile Adams, featured on our site as an outstandingly stylish individual of our recent past, and have more and more inspired by her other half – the eternally suave and sophisticated, Mr. Steve McQueen.

Riot boy, rider boy, and adventure man to the core – Steve McQueen is the epitome of style for all you brothers who love classic menswear styles, but with a cool twist.

Check out some of the images we pulled to muse over and inspire!

“I did grow up next door to Steve McQueen, who was a very famous movie star at the time, but as a kid it didn’t impress me. We always had great fun with him. He would take us out on Sundays on his motorcycles, riding around in the desert; he was like a second father.”

E.O.F. TOP 25 BEST HALLOWEEN KARAOKE JAMS

eof-karaoke-october

If you’ve been following us for a while now, you probably know that we host a Karaoke night every other Tuesday at The Baltimore House here in Hamilton, Ontario. In fact, we’re crawling up on two years which is INSANE!!! We have our friends and followers to thank for that, and for every week helping us amp up the madness.

Tonight we are hosting our annual {HALLOWEEN EDITION} of Karaoke, and we know that once you have that giant book of songs in front of you, a choice can be quite intimidating. You think you know what you wanted to sing, but once faced with the endless pages of options, you start to second guess yourself a bit.

That’s why we decided to create a list of our Top 25 Halloween karaoke jams for you to muse over, and hopefully inspire! We’re posting the actual artists’ videos so you can practice alongside the original track.

25. HIGHWAY TO HELL – AC/DC

The track title says it all! When we think of Halloween, we think of a ride to Hell and back saying /singing ‘Hello’ to the fiery red man himself. This one is perfect if you’re into more of a rock n roll jam. We are sensing a crowd pleasing vibe also, if that’s important to you. Frankly, we don’t give a shit about your reasoning; if you choose this jam, you are truly on fire!

24. THE DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEORGIA – THE CHARLIE DANIELS BAND

OK, we’re already showing a bit of a pattern here, but let’s face it – there are plenty of songs about the Devil, however, they aren’t so many that really capture that old down home kind of feeling the way The Charlie Daniels Band does with their seminal classic “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”. We’re also a sucker for this jam thanks to the 1999 film “SUPERSTAR”. If you’ve seen it, you know what we’re talking about . . .

23. DISTURBIA – RIHANNA

Now, here’s one for you Top 40 bitches out there. Pure pop to the max. Before Ri Ri was packing for Fenty X Puma and freaking everyone out screaming “BITCH BETTER HAVE MY MONEY”, there was a more reserved Ri (which compared to most people, is still really out there). Halloween is all about turning reality on its head…and this song truly honours those vibes.

22. SOMEBODY’S WATCHING ME – ROCKWELL

If there’s one thing that scare us not just on Halloween, but any day of the week, is the idea of someone creepily creeping and stalking you in the night….walking down the street, in your house, at the coffee shop getting a latte, in an alley; Rockwell, knows…and this is a bona fide classic! Bring those 80s vibes our way!!!

21. EVIL WOMAN – ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA

OK, Don’t get mad! We’re not saying all women are evil…..its just the name of a song! Trying to get some of those smooth groove 1970s vibes into the list, and we love the soothing cool of Electric Light Orchestra’s classic “Evil Woman”. Songs like these really work out for karaoke, because, well . . . they KICK ASS! Trust.

20. ZOMBIE – THE CRANBERRIES

What is Halloween without some zombies??? I ask you this! NOTHING. We all know. So, how could we have a Top 25 Halloween Karaoke jams without this 90s classic?! We couldn’t. So, lets get ‘er done kids. Someone put on that whispy airy Irish voice and protest it all. Halloween or not – this is always a killer jam!

19. DEAD MAN’S PARTY – OINGO BOINGO

We love us some Oingo Boingo, and Danny Elfman just plain never disappoints so count on this Tim Burton alumni to bring the world one of the premium Halloween jams. Now we just need someone brave enough to Karaoke it! Maybe you?

18. DELILAH – TOM JONES

You gotta love it when someone amps up the jams with a little Tom Jones in the house. This one you might not have thought of initially as a typical Halloween classic, however, I’m pretty sure by the end he’s talking about MURDER. If that is not invoking the Halloween spirit, I don’t know what is!

17. WUTHERING HEIGHTS- KATE BUSH

You may not have realized, that this classic 80s song by British chanteuse Kate Bush is actually sung through the perspective of a ghost! SCHPOOOOOKY……making this a certified Halloween jam perfect for the Karaoke stage! And, Heathcliffe ….let the god damn ghost in through the window; she’s cold!

16. THE MONSTER- EMINEM FT. RIHANNA

Sometimes its fun to sing with your friends…sometimes. Here’s a duet if you’re feeling nasty. Do I need to explain the allusion to Halloween? Are you friends with a monster under your bed? I didn’t think so. Either way, this is a kick ass karaoke jam for the ages!

15. SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL- THE ROLLING STONES

There are many words for the Devil. Beelzebub. Lucifer. Belial. Satan. The Rolling Stones kept it simple in this rock n roll jam, and feel sympathy for our forlorn angel of the bottomless pit. The song appeared in the 1994 vampire flick “Interview with the Vampire”, and is definitely a crowd pleaser, but a little practice is recommended before going all out so check out the video above and let those notes soar.

14. CRY LITTLE SISTER – GERRARD MCMANN

You might not recognize this one, but its the title track for the 80s teen vampire film “The Lost Boys” which features a young bleached blonde Kiefer Sutherland as a bad boy rebel vampire. This song is atmospheric, dark, and moody, and just had to make our list.

13. GHOST – ELLA HENDERSON

You might think it takes more than having a word like GHOST in your title, to make the cut on this list. If you thought that, you’re wrong. Great song though. Definitely kill-a-ble, which we promise is a good thing.

12. MONSTER – NICKI MINAJ’S VERSE

This song is strong, but in particular we want to hear someone rap the shit out of Nicki Minaj’s verse. There’s an istrumental track on Youtube with lyrics, so it can be done. Again, the same rules apply here as the previous song. Sometimes life is that simple.

11. SEVEN WONDERS – FLEETWOOD MAC

Forever iconic thanks to “American Horror Story: Coven”. Remember when Stevie Nicks was actually on the show as a witch? That was the shit. A gorgeous song, and a beautiful homage to those bad ladies in black.

10. GHOSTBUSTER – RAY PARKER JR.

Why the fuck has no one done this song yet?! What is wrong with us?!! There is a call out to the universe for someone to grant our {HALLOWEEN EDITION} the honour of someone gracing the stage to sing this timeless party jam. Who you gonna call?

9. TIME WARP – ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW

Listen closely; not for very much longer … We gotta admit, whether its Halloween or not, Rocky Horror Picture Show is always a hit with the crowd! We chose this jam, because its definitely a classic, and just not quite done enough on our stage! Has anyone watched the FOX version? Let us know what you thought it the comments below!

8. WEREWOLVES OF LONDON – WARREN ZEVON

We’ve covered the devil, witches, possession, ghosts, zombies, and everything in between, except for WEREWOLVES!!! That’s why this Warren Zevon cult classic had to make it onto this list, and hopefully onto our stage! WAAAAA-OOOOOOO!!!!

7. JACK’S LAMENT – THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

We featured Danny Elfman earlier on the list with his 80s band Oingo Boingo’s “Dead Man’s Party”, but this one is especially special, because not only is “The Nightmare Before Christmas” one of the most beloved and iconic Halloween flicks, but Danny Elfman himself did the voice for Jack skeleton! If you love singing a dramatic power ballad, and need the Halloween flare, this is the one for you!

6. SCARY MONSTERS AND SUPER CREEPS – DAVID BOWIE

No best list of any kind would be complete without a little Bowie, and our list would not be complete without this spooky jam! Fun for all!

5. I PUT A SPELL ON YOU – JOE CROCKER

We picked the Joe Crocker version because its one our favourites, but there are many versions of this song out there, so whichever suits your fancy, we’re down. This song always gives us vivid visions of Bette Midler rocking it out in “Hocus Pocus”, so definitely a bona fide {Halloween Edition} Karaoke classic.

4. JUMP IN THE LINE – HARRY BELAFONTE

This one’s funny, because its not necessarily spooky in anyway, however, we can’t help but homage one of our favourite Halloween haunts “Beetlejuice”!!! Remember the end? With the dancing? And the floating? And all the fun? SHE GOT ADOPTED BY GHOST, PEOPLE! GHOSTS!!!

3. MONSTER MASH – BOBBY “BORIS” PICKETT & THE CRYPT-KICKERS

Always a crowd pleaser, even if its not Halloween! This could be a great group number, just sayin’ . . .

2. THIS IS HALLOWEEN- THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Yes, we have two songs from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” on the list, but this one is just too apropos to ignore!! In fact, it made it to our Top 2!!! So that’s saying something…a bit of a tongue twister, but ultimately fun! Just remember to have fun….then you can never fuck up.

1. THRILLER – MICHAEL JACKSON

You may have seen this one coming, but we had to give the number 1 spot to no other song but Michael Jackson’s glorious ultimate Halloween jam “THRILLER”, and believe it or not we’ve never had the pleasure of hosting anyone who put this one in to sing!!! What’s going on here? Hopefully tonight, things could change!

We’ve had a lot of fun creating this list, and hope it helps whatever Halloween Karaoke dilemmas you might be facing!

We start the festivities at 9pm at The Baltimore House, so if you’re in the area and looking for something to do swing on by.

Until we meet again,
