There is something to be said about what can be seen, and there isn’t very much to say when you can’t see at all. We are taking a closer look at a Cat Eye, or Horn-rim. A bug-eye or no rim?? What are we talking about? Why, the wonderful world of corrective eye-wear!
Dating back to ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, we find the first known case of ‘magnification’ depicted as ‘simple glass meniscal lenses’. Evolving further to the days of Emperor Nero of Rome, when a globe or glass was filled with water to aid in enlarging small written text, it is also said that Nero would watch the Gladiatorial Games using an Emerald as a corrective lens.
Personnel style does not take a back seat when it comes to sporting frames for focusing. Invented for the genuinely blind, but manufactured in gross nowadays with plain plastic lenses for modern-day hipsters. We’ve taken a journey through decades to discover just how far we’ve come. Glasses for fashion, glasses to see, but most importantly, a pair to focus on you and me.
The Eye.
