Don’t know where you are, but here in Toronto the heat has been steadily on the incline. Seems like we’re experiencing a bit of a heat wave, which definitely isn’t the worst thing. After all, we could be getting whipped in the face by clawing cold winds! Not cool. Not in the least.
Apart from escape the cruel contempt of Winter, the Summer brings many unexpected joys such as seeing family, hanging with your chums, maybe even taking a little vacation to a sweet spot far from the hustle of the everyday. That’s what we LIVE for, here at The Eye of Faith – the glory of Summer, as it blooms from the blossom of Spring…
There’s something else the heat conjures from the sand, and that’s The Boys of Summer. No matter where you are, you can find them. Legend has portrayed them as a fun and rambunctious group of gents, grazing the shores for action. Some of them you can even spot in a variety of stripes, spots, or patterns.
The Boys of Summer have coexisted with Mankind now for thousands of years, but only since the development of photography have we been able to keep such brilliant record of these strange and wonderful creatures. While some things have changed (bathing suit fashions), one thing will always be the same, and that’s the pure fun and joy of being able to strut your stuff in the sun.
This is Part 1 of a series of photos entitled “The Boys of Summer“. The dates of the photos range between the 1910s to the 1970s, and really showcase the staying power of true vintage styles!
Enjoy the fun, and don’t get sand in your ears!
Sincerely,
