ARE YOU WATCHING ‘AMERICAN GODS’ YET ? ? ?
If you’re not, you need to get your life together and watch one of THE most visually and philosophically opulent shows that has graced the small screen in a very very long time . . .
Each shot, each sound, each choice and decision is stunning, and we have to admit we are hooked!
It’s nice to watch a show that feels like it embodies a deeper meaning to it. If you want a taste of what we mean, here’s a glimpse at the opening credits which in themselves are a true work of art!
It’s really a complex work! Here’s a rundown of what we’ve seen from the title’s director Patrick Claire {via Reddit}:
- The tree of life
- Screaming stone medusa with fiber optics coming from her hair and effectively lancing her with these twisting glowing cables
- The Selfie Nymphs—A trio of media nymphs… Nymphs of classical mythology, but instead of eyes they have camera phone, Cyclops views of the world
- A menorah twisted with audio and digital plugs in place of the sacred candles
- Lady Madonna with a veil, which is actually a piece of wearable technology, where you’ve got silicon threads woven through the fabric itself.
- Budai or the Laughing Buddha sampling some pharmaceuticals and seeming to be enjoying himself
- Reproductive technology and modern medicine and engineering
- Ganesha with too many smart phones
- Sony’s Aibo in a Sphinx-like position
- A broken cowboy who’s got a prosthetic limb similar to so many of our veterans who have faced tragic events in warzones overseas. And he’s accompanied by a centaur instead of a horse, and the centaur is made out of BigDog, the robotic pack horse that the military is developing
- The angel of death who’s decked out in special forces gear
- Aries the God of Virtual War, with a chariot pulled by two customized American muscle cars, holding a crossbow with a nuclear ICBM loaded into it
- A space shuttle spewing smoke and fire
- A crucified astronaut
- An eagle perched at the top of the pole, the ultimate symbol of America. Might also be a reference to Native American Thunderbirds.
And that’s just in a minute and a half people!
So much more stimulating musings to come with this show, so definitely check out this wicked new offering from STARZ!
Tell us what you think!
Until next time,
