The Rites of Spring

Our last few posts have been harbouring a certain darkness and creepiness (that we of course love), but seeing as Spring has already sprung we thought we’d pay some respect to a most glorious of seasons.

Just as Stravinsky saw a vision of youth, sacrifice, and above-all beauty in his musical megawork The Rite of Spring, we at The Eye of Faith are seeing the beauty of nature and the primitive simplicities of – well, BEING.

The days thus far have been absolutely gorgeous, and no doubt we have the Gods of Spring to thank for that! Let’s just hope we can hold onto his benevolence!

Oh, the joys of youth! Pretty stuff today, but don’t think we have let go of our demons. After all, as Aristophanes said:

“Evil events from evil cause spring”

Persephone awaits!

Until next time,

EOF Approved: Brand New “Dracula” Shades

Check out these amazing specimen of a spectacle we were able to pick up recently! Aren’t they a blast?!

Currently foreseeing hundreds of days of pleasure and riot had in these cool new specs. Definitely digging a sort of Bram Stoker’s Dracula meets Something Wicked This Way Comes carnival creepshow kind of vibe with these ones.

Thought this would be a good opportunity to show off the iwickedly peculiar MAGICA SEXUALIS we just happened to stumble upon. A very exciting and rare addition to our dark collection. The book documents the many strange and fascinating sexual practices that have been attributed to magic and witchcraft (Not a bad subject to brush up on…).

We are very lucky to own a first edition of the book printed in 1934, featuring some immaculate cover illustrations designed by Aubrey Beardsley. They don’t make them like they used to, is for sure.

So, it’s looking like this one is a real two-for. Started you off with one thing, and then you got two. Forgot to show the best part of our brand new bad boys, though!

They do THAT! Bet you didn’t see that one coming…or you did. Either way, gotta love them. A serious pair of shades is a must, especially if you need your talisman to work without anyone seeing!

Wish I had one for everyone, but I think these ones are going to have to be serious keepers.

Till next time,

City and Coloured Kids!

Style stars are driven by ambition and rebellion! Youth of today surely embrace the idea of standing out, we say “Kudo’s Kids!”. We here at E.O.F. love the twist of a turban, or the pop of a feather with a fedora but nothing compares to somebody pulling off neon hair! A style we’ve talked about before, will surely be a style we will talk about again and again. But until then, here are a few of the kids who are bold and beautiful.

If you dyed your hair a wild colour today, what colour would you pick??

Birds of a Feather.

Throw caution to the wind, and let the feather in. There’s something to be said about our generation of recycling, and if new isn’t even new anymore, new must be old, and old sure is a sight to behold. Don’t take things too seriously, because life is better, when you’re light as a feather.

“Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.”
Emily Dickinson

Thanks to LittleTramp1921 for video.

“Love and learn
Take your turn
Somewhere there’s a feather
Falling slowly from the sky
You need not know the reason why”

And remember, steer clear of high ambition, think of Icarus and his flight. Aiming for the Gods, his recycled wings melted in the sun, and to earth he fell. Ambition to death. A feather is the badge, reminding us of a dream that could be, if only we reached.

“The day is done, and the darkness, Falls from the wings of Night, As a feather is wafted downward, From an eagle in his flight”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

“Why slap them on the wrist with feather when you can belt them over the head with a sledgehammer.”
Katharine Hepburn

“I may have a feather duster down my pants.”
