E.O.F. How To Ivy Style From LOOK Magazine, 1955.

When it comes to achieving that legendary Ivy Style, one shouldn’t have to think too much at all.

When we came across this simple spread from 1955 we were struck with the straight forwardness of the editorial, as well as the run-down on how to achieve that Ivy Look.

The article was so fascinating and perfect, we had no choice but to share and feature it with our readers here at The Eye. Knowing the ins and outs of the Ivy Look is essential for any style enthusiast, so it was only right we help educate and relate!

The key really is having those classic and timeless pieces in your wardrobe so that you’re not really having to worry so much about how it’s all coming together. You take your hand, and you touch that sports coat or shirt and all the sudden it is fused to your being for the day.

Sometimes it just feels right. The best part about it is, you can see that it’s not necessarily about being some kind of perfect specimen, at all. In fact, it is much more about pairing the unexpected, and contrasting patterns and textures in curious ways to make those around you take that second look and say “Whoa! That guy has got it together!”

At that, my friends, will make you feel damn good.

So, what’s that acronym again they are always saying? K.I.S.S….You don’t have to do much but be yourself, be comfortable, and show off a little.

KEEP IT SIMPLE SPIRITS!

Special Thanks to THE IVY LEAGUE LOOK.

Sincerely,

1940s Rebel Teen Skater Boy {Vintage Street Style Inspiration}

Some things are simply forever. Diamonds, of course, being one of them, but beyond that we must conclude on Style – an eternal force that can elevate you beyond the realm of time and place, and if you play your cards right, you might just live forever.

Case in point this lovely handsome bad-ass 1940s rebel teen skater boy, we have here….

This photograph is a perfect example of how Style can truly live forever. If I didn’t tell you that the photograph was taken in the 1940s (the snapshot is stamped June 3, 1940 to be exact), you could probably trick someone into believing it was taken maybe yesterday in black and white with a few vintage props. What is it exactly that tricks us into this magic? Well, no trick at all. It’s simply the lasting power of a classic look.

Even while surfing the sidewalks, a pair of pressed khaki trousers seems to do this bad boy fine; and paired with a well fitted black graphic sweater – this look couldn’t be more on point. Round it out with that sickening hair style (a casual part, ruffled by the wind)  and I’d say he looks 2013 bound for me.

So while we’re used to the baggy shorts and zippered hoodies of skater kids of late; we hope all you fine rebels out there can take a note from our wicked skater boy and his style savvy ways, to promote a handsomer approach to being free. Doesn’t mean you have to lose yourself, just check yourself before you wreck yourself.

It’s time to join the pack, and carry on in the lineage of classic style, and keeping cool under pressure. Don’t you agree?

Must have been a real heart breaker, that one . . .

Until next time my vintage friends and fiends!

Sincerely,

A Rebel By Any Other Name Would Still Be As Sweet…

At THE EYE OF FAITH, we are always looking to reinvent the classics.  Looking to the past for our inspiration, we sought refuge in classic rebel gear.   We bring you a page from our LOOKBOOK to demonstrate our take on a classic.

James Dean’s iconic red jacket, jeans, and t-shirt combo was our immediate go-to, and we decided to give it a bit of an E.O.F. spin to bring it back to life for today.

We found this sick rebel red Member’s Only windbreaker which we aptly named “James” for the collection, and paired it with an +E.O.F. ORIGINAL+ design which many of our peers have noted looked uncannily like a view of the ocean seen from outer space- thus “Mystical Ocean Mystery” became its title! Cosmic ocean rebel, indeed!

A simple pair of vintage pleated trousers in royal blue brings it back to that classic 1950s all-American vibe we were drawing from in the first place.

And our look wouldn’t be complete without our Grateful Dead Converse kicks.  A cool tie-dye limited edition shoe to take that classic 1950s feel and make it ‘now’!

Definitely think we made a splash here! Really love the combination, and how easily an old classic can be completely redefined to fit in to today’s world, and no doubt, tomorrow’s as well!

It’s all about the spirit you bring to it, and we’re coming full force with number one original rebel attitude!
