{MUSIC MINUTE} – David Bowie’s “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” with Tilda Swinton, Saskia De Brauw, & Andrej Pejic

THE STARS (ARE OUT TONIGHT) Title

We last caught up with David Bowie on his triumphant release of his first single in nearly a decade on his birthday back in January. Now, the style idol and music icon has released a new song with a wild and dandy video to boot called “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)”.

The video brings the gender bending androgyny that Bowie was made famous for the forefront, with three more stars of the business who have also made their place in the stars with their uniquely beautiful gender ambiguous ways. The video features Tilda Swinton, as his wife, and features supermodels Saskia de Brauw and Andrej Pejic as celebrity obsessed copy cats!

From the very beginning the film had us wondering, and by the end we were floored by the artistry of the video, as well as Bowie’s (still got it) thunderous musical prowess. It’s quite the roller coaster, but we’re always up for a ride – especially if its with this A+ line up of fashion pros. The video is very much a fashion inspired gig, with a bit of a Lynchian vibe. It’s been a while since there’s been a video quite as good.

We always see that The Eye of Faith is a nexus between the {past}, {present}, and {future}, and we feel this video is a great example of all three dimensions coming together seamlessly. Look for even more androgyny out there. It’s just what it’s about.

Please enjoy the video! Makes for a good pick-me-up in your day. Don’t get too addicted, now.

Stars are never sleeping
Dead ones and the living

Waiting for the first move
Satyrs and their child wives
Waiting for the last move
Soaking up our primitive world

2012: Year of the Boy Scout!

The news is out, and hipsters and cinephiles everywhere wish they could be in Cannes this year to watch this year’s opening film for the 65th Annual Film Festival: Wes Anderson’s newest flick, “Moonrise Kingdom”.

With an all-star cast that includes Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Harvey Keitel, Frances McDormand, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the story’s young heroes – we cant’ but help gush.

Wes Anderson is a rare breed of man who has been able to harness and build his own brand of style which he displays throughout each of his films. It’s a style that is as much quirky as it is conventional, blending and arranging vintage elements in ways that are wholly unique.

We knew there was something special about this film the second the trailer blazed before our eyes, but the recent news has just made the excitement grow even more!

Hate to say “I told you so”, but looks like Boy Scout Style is here to say. And from the looks of everything, it could really end up being the Year of the Boy Scout.

So put on your pins and khakis, tie on that neckerchief, and let’s explore!

Loving Jason Schwartzman’s aviator glasses, but can’t help notice Kara Hayward’s styling Suzie. Could she be this generation’s Margot Tenebaum? My bet is on YES.
