{PHOTOBLAST} It Smells Like Teen Spirit ! ! ! #whome #bitchimightbe

Nirvana is Nirvana- The Eye of Faith Vintage- Style iNspiration Blog the eye of faith- rowdy boys

Here we are now, entertain us . . .

With September unfolding, seems like we can’t help but get wrapped up in all the back to school spirit. The youth is on fire in the streets, and we’ve been given the chance to meet so many unique young individuals in the city and around the world. In fact, it’s impossible to not feel inspired!

We got the title of this {PHOTOBLAST} series from the classic Nirvana single “Smells Like Teen Spirit” which still wreaks its foul mouthed odour over our culture and society.

On top of that, one of our favourite Youtube channels React by the Fine Bros. released a Teen React to Smells Like Teen Spirit video that just had our mind gushing with limitless energizing spirit.

Shock me one last time before I go back to the garden

This {PHOTOBLAST} is dedicated to the fiery souls of the cult of Teen.

It’s really more of a headspace, just like anything else. So don’t be shy, or feel embarassed when all you feel like doing is kicking back with your friends and having a good time. It’s right no matter how old you are.

Plus, it always pays to look good while you’re doing it.

Setting Up For Satan: Fresh Design Tips for a New “Aeon”

“Rosemary’s Baby” remains one of the single most affecting, and stylish films to ever grace the silver screen. Based on the bestselling novel by Ira Levin (“The Stepford Wives”), the film serves up the frightening tale of an innocent young couple pulled deep into a darkness once imaginable in the heart of New York City.

Many argue the darkness still purveys more than ever in urban sprawls all over the world. No longer should you fear the woods at night, as much as the threat of our own neighbours, and the things we can’t see, that has begun to send shivers up your spine. As Gary Indiana of the Village Voice describes:

“The movie appeared at a moment of optimum spiritual chaos in American life. Rosemary’s Baby remains an iconic memory trace of a time when anything seemed possible, including the birth of the Anti-Christ”.

The fear still prevails more than ever in these times, and many would argue that SATAN can be found everywhere we look these days; television, film, books, and of course, FASHION.

But, paranoid speculation aside, perhaps one of the greatest aspects of Roman Polanski’s 1968 classic, is the devilishly divine design by Richard Sylbert. Setting the film in the both epic and ominous Dakota Building in New York City, Sylbet acts on the trends and compulsions of the time that really give definition to Rosemary’s characterization.

Prim and proper Rosemary- the picture of perfection, really. From her committed DIY efforts around the apartment, to her of-the-moment Vidal Sassoon haircut (“Don’t you like it?”), Rosemary is a portrait of a woman, perhaps society, committed to doing what’s “Right”. In the end, her constant commitment to being the “good girl” has led her down the darkest path of all.

Being obsessive fans of the film’s decor, it was such a treat to stumble upon “Rosemary’s Baby: Devilish Decor” on Nowness.com! The site always features dynamic and interesting stories in the realm of art, design, film, and fashion, but the celebration of Mia Farrow’s 67th birthday with a hillarious How-To for Satanist’ provided by blogging duo Unahppy Hipsters is just what Doctor Sapperstein ordered!

Gotta give it to Richard Sylbet for being so on-point with the yellow for 1968, considering the film would have started production at least a year before! Thanks Unhappy Hipsters and Nowness for this dangerous delight!

“All the while Rosemary is remaking the apartment to suit her needs, the building (and its inhabitants) are remaking her to suit theirs, which makes her choices of bright white walls and sunny yellow fabrics seem at first hopeful, then increasingly creepy.”

Sincerely,

The Late Great Valentino: For Rent!

Tragedy came too soon, in the form of Rudolph Valentino’s death. Suffering from unexpected appendicitis and gastric ulcers, Valentino spoke optimistically to his doctors about his future, while the doctor’s knew the inevitable grim fate of the iconic actor. Passing away August 15 1926, at a young 31, hysteric female fan’s threw themselves off buildings, lusting to somehow be closer to their dearly departed Rudolph. A star remembered by name, but seldom by his film credits alone, Rudolph Valentino rose to stardom through the glory days of silent film. With his steely gaze, and exotic look, no other film star of the time could compare.

A stone’s throw away from the The Beverly Hills Hotel, Valentino’s estate stood strong after his passing. Owned at a time by tobacco heiress Doris Duke, who used the property as a stay over between commutes to her hawaiian property and a hollywood life, until her death in the home in 1996. Torn down and built back up, the home can now be rented for $1,000 a night to $14,000 monthly.

Maybe we could handle a night in the estate… but we’d be tempted to bust out the Ouija board and conjure up the spirit of the film great. Would you want to stay at this house??

We Will Endure to the End

Perdurabo [Latin]:
Verb. (First-person singular future active indicative of perdūrō)

“I will endure to the End”

Aleister Crowley (Oct. 12, 1875 – Dec. 1, 1947)

These are the wise words we at The Eye of Faith have adopted for the upcoming storms, as we at E.O.F. celebrate our one month anniversary! A big thanks to our followers for bringing their great insight, great thoughts, great taste, and above all- great support!

We haven’t been able to update for a while due to the newly arrived winter chill. We knew about it’s bite, but had forgot about it’s sting! Luckily we had the proper armour and shield waiting…Couldn’t not just say a big thanks, and look forward to bringing in more thoughts, ideas, and most of all a touch of E.O.F. style, and class.

A big warm salute to A.C. up there (Aleister Crowley; occultist supreme), and his fabulous magic motto we have up for display to remind us of the fight:

The fight to keep going, the fight to pursue, and the endurance to handle it all, too. On the same note, a high-five to the big J.C. (Jesus Christ) on display there too. He likes to see the world through the crystal, because he likes to see it refract. It’s the only way to see all sides at once…

I think he could relate to Crowley’s (and our own) quest for endurance. Don’t we all?

Have something to say? Add? Leave us a comment below!

Thanks,
