Rebel Yell with a Touch of Evil: Miharayasuhiro Men S/S13

We are moved by the beautiful designs coming from Miharayasuhiro. Inspired by David Lynch’s “Wild at Heart” and the python jacket Nicolas Cage wore in the film, Mihara Yasuhiro’s appealingly offbeat collection is having the fashion crowd singing praises. And here @TheEyeOfFaith, we are feeling this!

Rockabilly Preppy Goth dudes splashed in paint, some head to toe, made for a truly easy-chic vibe with an edge normally seen with Links and Chains in Nashville. We saw Hairdo’s that have got us combing our hair differently. We love love love the collection overall. Lots of variety with some stark-hard subtly.

We bring you a series of backstage shots by Dirk Alexander from Models.com.  We can envision ourselves sliding into any one of these looks.  Cool simple colour story, lots of beige and white’s mixed with leather’s and black mesh.  A James Dean Rebel red Members Only jacket sets the tone for the whole collection.  We are feeling a Fight Club feel for 2013 with the forever stylish Python.  This is a collection that for SURE stands out this season.

Music Minute: Patsy Cline – “She’s Got You” (1962)

No secret here, we love to revel in Vintage.  We had the privilege to find this rare performance by the incredible Patsy Cline of her hit “She’s Got You” thanks to  .  This one goes out to anybody who may be stewing over a lost love, missing days of the past.   We sure as heck miss Patsy Cline.  She truly had a voice like no other, with a distinct sadness in her voice that was truly beyond her time.

Take notice of Patsy’s unique flair for fashion.  Playing hard into the cliche’s of Nashville, Patsy wore the Cowgirl style like it were a uniform, yet somehow she stood out during her time and was a true original.  We are particular intrigued by the way she wore her headband.. talk about trend setter!  Imagine running into her ghost…

Music Minute: Jack White & Wanda Jackson – Black Cab Sessions

The Black Cab Sessions is a series of one-song performances by musicians and poets recorded in the back of a black cab and filmed for an internet audience. A ‘blackcab’ is a taxicab that’s common to Britain.  These sessions are always good, but this one is particularly great!

The motto of the Black Cab Sessions is “one song, one take, one cab.”

We find Jack White to be quite the revolutionist when it comes to his musical styling. And we adore him because helped reintroduce some of the greatest artists to a fad stricken America. We want to take a minute to show you all this ‘Black Cab’ Jam-sesh with iconic Wanda Jackson.

We get a glimpse on some of Wanda’s reflections on her music, her life, and some insight about the King himself; Elvis!  Oh, and if that wasn’t enough to get a person interested, the cab driver during this session is John C Reilly.

1956: Elvis Hits! But You Haven’t Seen Anything Yet!

Saturday, Jan. 28, 1956, this would mark the first time Elvis Presley would appear on national television!  He would appear on the Dorsey Brothers Show.  Still an unknown to the world,  Elvis did not draw a large studio audience.  He would perform 3 songs before the hosts ensured Elvis would be back the following week.

According to a service man who was in the audience the night on that fateful rainy night, “I often went on Saturday nights to the Dorsey brothers show and I was there when Elvis Presley made his national television debut on that show. I had never heard of him and was startled when he appeared on stage and hundreds of girls began screaming.”

That night was the night that changed the life of this young fella that could shake his hips and rock blue eye shadow on occasion.  Redefining how we think of pop stars,   Elvis left more than his mark on music and style history.   For anybody who knocks ‘The King’, we call you out, because this was a guy who knew what to wear, when to wear it, and ruled his time on earth.
