We’ve had his lady, Ms. Neile Adams, featured on our site as an outstandingly stylish individual of our recent past, and have more and more inspired by her other half – the eternally suave and sophisticated, Mr. Steve McQueen.

Riot boy, rider boy, and adventure man to the core – Steve McQueen is the epitome of style for all you brothers who love classic menswear styles, but with a cool twist.

Check out some of the images we pulled to muse over and inspire!

“I remember seeing him across the swimming pool and my knees were knocking. He radiated such macho energy. Men wanted to be like him. Uptight society ladies and biker molls wanted to be with him.”

-Ali McGraw

“He was a fascinating, crazy, irascible, roguish, likable, dislikable guy. Yes, he was all those things.”

-David Foster

“I did grow up next door to Steve McQueen, who was a very famous movie star at the time, but as a kid it didn’t impress me. We always had great fun with him. He would take us out on Sundays on his motorcycles, riding around in the desert; he was like a second father.”

-Herb Ritts

April Flea! @JunctionFlea Says Goodbye to the Great Hall ! Come to the Last Show on Queen Street!

FLEA_Poster11x17april

The Junction Flea has always been good to us here at The Eye of Faith.

We were lucky enough to have our public debut, and first pop-up, with the Flea in January, and since then, we can’t imagine not being a part of it all. On top of being with our favourite shops in the city, we’ve been able to meet a lot of really fun and cool people in the process, which has really made it all the more worth while.

If you’re in Toronto on April 14th, make sure to stop by The Great Hall and get your fix of amazing hand-picked vintage and handmade realness!

We will be bringing with us our usual mix of timeless, classic, out-of-control menswear at great prices, as well as our secret womenswear finds that you can only currently find from us at each month’s Flea. We’ve also been collecting treasures this month to bring to the flea like vintage art, unusual snapshots, legendary fashion magazine issues, vintage LPs, and 1960s horror comics. We’ve got our eye on the prize, after all (this is The Eye of Faith)!

So be sure to stop by, grab a coffee or some dumplings and find something that was truly meant for you . . .

You can get a preview of what to expect by checking out our Etsy shop, and for more on the Junction Flea, be sure to check out their blog!

This should be big, so don’t miss out!

See you there!

E.O.F. Approved: Vintage ‘Flying Tigers’ Jacket

The famous Flying Tigers fighter squadrons of WWII definitely were a group of bad-ass troops! Being the “1st American Volunteer Group” (AVG) of the Chinese Air Force between 1941-1942. While most of the news in the U.S. came back in defeat by Japanese Forces, the ‘Flying Tigers’ used innovation, skill, and above all style, to make a crash landing fight to victory. Some also argue the men as mercenaries working under hefty contracts from the Chinese Government. Either way, we have to admit these men had some guts.

Check out this extremely rare WWII Avirex A-2 Chinese Air Force Bomber Flight Military Leather Jacket (say that three times fast). Such great condition, and with a story to tell too. Takes a real hero to pull this one off.

When looking for vintage leather pieces, always look for that beautiful distressing that happens to leather when it’s been worn. Why spend a lifetime getting a jacket to the most perfect soft wear, if you can get one whose already had a lifetime of use? And in this case, very exciting use!

Check out the Blood Chit tag at the back! This is the most fascinating bit of history sewn on the back with the Blood Chit used to identify a friend. Love seeing clothes as a communication tool on such a huge level.

Keep history alive, and rock this coat with a slick pair of dark denim jeans, and a simple white t-shirt. Couldn’t even imagine a cooler coat.

Want it? Check it out.

The Eye.
