{FAVOURITE FIND} 1930’s BAD ASS COOL DUDES PREP SCHOOL GROUP PHOTO!!!

These boys clearly know what’s up!

We love photos like these that go to prove the notion of ‘cool’ is absolutely timeless!!! We might argue that these guys bring ‘cool’ to a level that we barely even reach these daze. . .

We’re all consumed by our social media accounts, and the latest trend – meanwhile, these boys understand true camaraderie, having fun, looking good, and not taking life so seriously!

It’s fun also to imagine the in’s and out’s of these boys life outside the frame. They are, indeed, a very eclectic bunch, and who even knows what this photo was taken for?

We believe its some kind of class photo from a prep school, and judging from the wear on the photo, and their clothes – taken sometime in the 1930s. The handsome devil in the striped sweater vest in the centre of the group is obviously the ring leader. Love his buddies chilling on the stone orbs flanking the stairs.

Its photos like these that make you wish you could dive right into these photos and experience the moment – lucky for us, we have a singular moment captured forever with the magic of sunlight and silver.

We picture this framed for your home or workplace, or simply as some true style inspiration . . .

90S TEEN DREAM
STYLE/SCREAM QUEEN

+CHRISTINA RICCI+

{CIRCA. 1995 / ‘CASPER’ DAZE}

“Can I keep you?…”

Girl, you really rock that tattered Victorian vibe . . .

Nobody does it quite like you.

If you haven’t seen this movie…such a shame.

Don’t forget; although, we got the 90s thing going on – “CASPER, THE FRIENDLY GHOST” is a certified vintage cartoon staple who first appeared in book form in 1939, and later became the beloved animated ghost we know today in 1945!!!

Vintage inspiration….it’s where it’s at! I said it before, and I’ll say it again.

Don’t underestimate the power of the {PAST}!

A VIEW WITH A ROOM // A POP UP {SHOP} @VOLVERDESIGNS

A VIEW WITH A ROOM - THE EYE OF FAITH VINTAGE - POP UP SHOP- JAMES STREET NORTH-11

As you know, we had the pleasure of setting up A POP-UP {SHOP} at Volver Studio at 126 James Street North in Hamilton, ON this Friday, and it was a blast! Just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who made their way up to the third floor, and especially THANKS to our loyal patrons who keep the dream alive.

I know a lot of our international friends and followers are not able to readily see what we are up to in the flesh, but perhaps a digital gallery can suffice.

We went for our signature time-traveled look, which was all the more amplified by the incredibly gorgeous space.

Hope you enjoyed the view!

Hoping to get more and more of this stuff online into the New Year, so stay tuned, or if you see something that is catching your eye and need more information email us at: the.eye.of.faith@gmail.com

And remember, XIXIXI get you 25% OFF in the {SHOP}

THE 80s ARE BACK! 20 RAD 1980s MOVIE POSTER DESIGNS !!! [STRANGER THINGS FEVER]

stranger-things-poster

There have been stranger things in this world than the fact that STRANGER THINGS has become such a huge pop culture phenomenon this year. The second we gazed at the itsy bitsy teaser I knew that something special was in store.

cool-as-fuck-winona-ryder

cool-as-fuck-winona-ryder-2

Plus, the fact that it was starring pop culture Queen Winona Ryder, it was just so clear!

If you’re familiar with us, you know that we firmly believe that portals of the past are always open and ready to influx the present, and in the end, help shape the future, and STRANGER THINGS is the perfect example of this.

From the second the show opens with its cavernous rumbling synths and the panning electric red Stephen King-esque font comes into full view, the homage to classic 80s horror occult thrillers is ignited. What follows is a roller coaster ride that has erupted a fever for this brilliantly branded nostalgia.

Nostalgia is the key to this show, and for those who think the past is best left in the past, you might want to reconsider those thoughts, and give this show a shot at infiltrating the imagination with the beauty and wonder that the past has to offer.

We were inspired by the show’s epic 80s style illustrated poster to take a look back at some of the artful posters of films from the 1980s, and how their graphic quality still stands up to this day.

We made a list of 20, and hope it helps sparks some neurons!

{Music Minute} Black Sabbath’s “Planet Caravan”

In the spirit of the dunes we thought this timeless classic could definitely coincide. . .

This is an ode to Black Sabbath, the mystical heavy blues rockers from Birmingham who knew just the way to make their music crawl.

With the use of the occult and horror-inspired lyrics, and one-of-a-kind 1970s rock ‘n’ roll bohemian swag, we are definitely feeling a brotherhood with this unique quartet!

Pictures loaded by Graham Young, Birmingham Mail. The first ever picture taken of Black Sabbath taken in 1968 of Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, on a bank of grass close to Portland Road, Edgbaston. One hundred prints have been made at £495 each. Jim Simpson says: "If any one band can claim to be the originators of Heavy Metal, then that band is Black Sabbath. Strangely, Heavy Metal was not a term used in those days, though Sabbath certainly prided themselves on being heavier than any of their so-called rivals. In fact, their early publicity claimed, “Black Sabbath, the Heaviest Band Around. Makes Led Zeppelin sound like a kindergarten house band.” Quite how the Sabs changed from being a perfectly good blues band into the musical phenomenon that we all know and love is shrouded in mystery. It all started with Geezer Butler who contributed the band’s name as well as many of the songs. Their music developed naturally from then and it’s hard to indentify exactly what directly preceded it. Hendrix, yes, to a limited extent, but that only partly explains it. Whatever, Black Sabbath are THE Birmingham Rock Band. Ask yourself this. Who is the world’s most famous Brummie? Without doubt, it’s Ozzy. Also loaded: Jim Simpson at the private launch of Jim Simpson - A Photography Retrospective, an exhibition at Havill & Travis showcasing Jim's extraordinary collection of photographs from of pop, rock and blues stars from the 1960s. Jim was the first manager of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.
