{MUSIC MINUTE} The Original “Stroll” circa. February 1958

“The Stroll” was a slow rock n roll dance popular into the mid to late 1950s embraced by cool teens across America. Classic concept: boys on one side, girls on the other – the paired up couples then strut their stuff down the line. A precursor to the iconic Soul Train Line … we can’t help feel something spooky watching these teens slowly glide down the line in one of the original “strolls” captured on television.

Getting major Lynch vibes here . . . not sure exactly what it is? Perhaps it’s their eerily slow movements, and often times, complete lack of expression. Maybe its the grainy quality of the video and wondering where exactly this was filmed – the atmosphere is so strange.

But most definitely the fact that all this is but mere memory, and who knows what became of these kids or where they are now…

We might never know.

But we’d love to know what you thought, so leave a comment below!

Until next time,

THE 80s ARE BACK! 20 RAD 1980s MOVIE POSTER DESIGNS !!! [STRANGER THINGS FEVER]

stranger-things-poster

There have been stranger things in this world than the fact that STRANGER THINGS has become such a huge pop culture phenomenon this year. The second we gazed at the itsy bitsy teaser I knew that something special was in store.

cool-as-fuck-winona-ryder

Plus, the fact that it was starring pop culture Queen Winona Ryder, it was just so clear!

If you’re familiar with us, you know that we firmly believe that portals of the past are always open and ready to influx the present, and in the end, help shape the future, and STRANGER THINGS is the perfect example of this.

From the second the show opens with its cavernous rumbling synths and the panning electric red Stephen King-esque font comes into full view, the homage to classic 80s horror occult thrillers is ignited. What follows is a roller coaster ride that has erupted a fever for this brilliantly branded nostalgia.

Nostalgia is the key to this show, and for those who think the past is best left in the past, you might want to reconsider those thoughts, and give this show a shot at infiltrating the imagination with the beauty and wonder that the past has to offer.

We were inspired by the show’s epic 80s style illustrated poster to take a look back at some of the artful posters of films from the 1980s, and how their graphic quality still stands up to this day.

We made a list of 20, and hope it helps sparks some neurons!

{MUSIC MINUTE} You’ve Got the Music in You. . . Don’t You? Lana Del Rey’s Visions of the “West Coast”

Lana Del Rey's vision of the west coast is on fire

Lana Del Rey is hot.

She’s got the body electric, and the voice of Marilyn. And how can we not love a girl who is always bringing vintage inspired fashion and style to the forefront of today.

She is an embodiment of the {PAST}, {PRESENT}, and {FUTURE} and that’s why we love her.

Her latest single “West Coast” gives us the moody blues, a bit of a Lynchian edge, and a new frequency of cool malaise that shows off Lana’s knack for evolution in all rights. For an artist today, and in any era, this is often the key. I guess that’s the story of life itself.

It’s your choice really.

Kick it to this hot summer jam, and take a think, and tell us what you thought in the COMMENTS below.

Until next time,

{MUSIC MINUTE} – David Bowie’s “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” with Tilda Swinton, Saskia De Brauw, & Andrej Pejic

THE STARS (ARE OUT TONIGHT) Title

We last caught up with David Bowie on his triumphant release of his first single in nearly a decade on his birthday back in January. Now, the style idol and music icon has released a new song with a wild and dandy video to boot called “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)”.

The video brings the gender bending androgyny that Bowie was made famous for the forefront, with three more stars of the business who have also made their place in the stars with their uniquely beautiful gender ambiguous ways. The video features Tilda Swinton, as his wife, and features supermodels Saskia de Brauw and Andrej Pejic as celebrity obsessed copy cats!

From the very beginning the film had us wondering, and by the end we were floored by the artistry of the video, as well as Bowie’s (still got it) thunderous musical prowess. It’s quite the roller coaster, but we’re always up for a ride – especially if its with this A+ line up of fashion pros. The video is very much a fashion inspired gig, with a bit of a Lynchian vibe. It’s been a while since there’s been a video quite as good.

We always see that The Eye of Faith is a nexus between the {past}, {present}, and {future}, and we feel this video is a great example of all three dimensions coming together seamlessly. Look for even more androgyny out there. It’s just what it’s about.

Please enjoy the video! Makes for a good pick-me-up in your day. Don’t get too addicted, now.

Stars are never sleeping
Dead ones and the living

Waiting for the first move
Satyrs and their child wives
Waiting for the last move
Soaking up our primitive world

-Lyric, “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” – David Bowie

Music Minute: Lana Del Rey Covers “Blue Velvet”

Check out the wicked video for Lana Del Rey‘s cover of “Blue Velvet” directed by creative savant Johan Renck ( the Swedish director who we featured several months ago for his work with Perrier).

Her cover, and beautiful time traveling self, can be seen and heard in the latest commercials for H&M which feature a very David Lynchian vibe…triplets, midgets, curtained rooms…looks like a whole new generation of soldiers will soon be fighting the good fight.

Just sit back and enjoy this…let the music wrap your mind in melody….

Thanks Lana…(who me?)

Rebel Yell with a Touch of Evil: Miharayasuhiro Men S/S13

We are moved by the beautiful designs coming from Miharayasuhiro. Inspired by David Lynch’s “Wild at Heart” and the python jacket Nicolas Cage wore in the film, Mihara Yasuhiro’s appealingly offbeat collection is having the fashion crowd singing praises. And here @TheEyeOfFaith, we are feeling this!

Rockabilly Preppy Goth dudes splashed in paint, some head to toe, made for a truly easy-chic vibe with an edge normally seen with Links and Chains in Nashville. We saw Hairdo’s that have got us combing our hair differently. We love love love the collection overall. Lots of variety with some stark-hard subtly.

We bring you a series of backstage shots by Dirk Alexander from Models.com.  We can envision ourselves sliding into any one of these looks.  Cool simple colour story, lots of beige and white’s mixed with leather’s and black mesh.  A James Dean Rebel red Members Only jacket sets the tone for the whole collection.  We are feeling a Fight Club feel for 2013 with the forever stylish Python.  This is a collection that for SURE stands out this season.
