{PHOTOBLAST} Confessions of a Teenage Witch ! ! !

“Mommy? Daddy? We have something to tell you… you know those new girls we’ve been hanging out with at school? Yes, the one’s who smoke cigarettes and dance in the street.  Well…they have more to them than it seems.  And now…our dear sweet family, we have news… I’m a Teen Witch

Come the Bewitching hour, our style sensory will ignite and burst into the brightest of nights light, for playing with fashion will be our demonic delight! We’ll be in leather or lace, flipping a bird or two.  Dabbling in medieval monk magic, with our new gothic hair-do.  Tonight, the sands of the coast will be our runway.

We are celebrating the defiance of the Teen Witch. We hear a rebel yell in the witchlight, and trust these mother’s of nature to lead us to new extremes and tend to every curiosity.  Mother nature will guide them as they harness each new trait.  Faithfully we will follow, wiser than most, these witches are onto something.

“The blackest chapter in the history of Witchcraft lies not in the malevolence of Witches but in the deliberate, gloating cruelty of their prosecutors.”
-Theda Kenyon, Witches Still Live.

Witch! Witch! WITCH! More than just black nails with some dark eye liner.  Thank our God the tact of burning these on-land sirens has come to a near end.  Now we Covet the beauty exuded by these young go getters who will never show fear when it comes to tampering with their own devilish side.

Far more beautiful to behold than can be told, we engage in the danger of dabbling in the dark arts.  Triumphant we will remain, rising above all in our victory.  For these young beauties may deceive with little intent, what we see is never quite what we get.  So be sparing with all your judgements.  Please, or it may be you who get’s hung!

Demons, Devils and Diamonds: Eyeball this Jewelry!

Perhaps the most expressive way a person can add personal flavour to a look is to rock some unique jewelry.   Diamonds may be a girls best friend, but for the everyday Jo or Joanne, we have to work with what we have!   And we’re sure anything goes when it comes to great accessories.  Here’s a look at some jewelry The Eye of Faith wouldn’t want to live without.

“Accessories are important and becoming more and more important every day. They can completely change the look of an outfit, and women like the idea of having a wardrobe that’s versatile. For instance, a strong piece of jewelry can make a simple outfit look elegant.”
Giorgio Armani

“Accessories in general add warmth to a room, but you can switch out your accessories to showcase only ones that reinforce the cozy atmosphere you are creating.  “

Deborah Carpenter

“I never worry about diets. The only carrots that interest me are the number of carats in a diamond.”

Mae West

Never hesitate, just try it on!

Creepy Crawly LOVE Magazine Editorial: Kristen McMenamy

Monsters, moths and transformation! The second we saw this editorial from Love magazine, with photography by Tim Walker, we knew it would fit right in at The Eye of Faith. Model Kristen McMenamy never ceases to impress us with her seasoned effortless modelling style and pure edginess. Arachnophobes beware, with art direction by Katie Grand, this one is sure to creep you out.

With Vintage pieces by Dior, some chain mail headdresses from the Royal National Theater and of course, Alexander McQueen, we get a sense of Joan of Arc mixed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We wouldn’t want to kick this hornets nest.

“He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. Is not life a hundred times too short for us to bore ourselves?”

Boy Scout Style Now!

With the ‘coming’ Apocalypse, or just the change of season, any man could benifit from the skills shared by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Even a pocket knife could be enough to save your hide.  Nothing compares to the skills and trades of these wilderness boys, who abide by their own strict moral code. We must admit our love of scarves, so you may understand our intrigue with the uniform of a Scout.

As families moved to settling America, many organizations began forming across the country to help raise children in the changing world. Since its founding in 1901, more than 110 million americans have been members of the Scouts. BSA had two notable predecessors in the United States: the Woodcraft Indians started by Ernest Thompson Seton in 1902 and the Sons of Daniel Boone founded by Daniel Carter Beard in 1905 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In 1907, British General Robert Baden-Powell founded the Scouting movement in England using elements of Seton’s works among other influences. Several small local Scouting programs for boys started independently in the U.S., soon after, many of these programs merged with the BSA.

Militant style.  Cool boyish attitude. Scarves and swagger. These boys got the moves like jaggar. Go for a clean look and save tradition. Boots and pressed shorts, with a crisp collar and red scarf can keep that look true to the Scouts mission if your feelin’ fresh. Or do your own thing and add some personal flaire, use an ignigmatic pattern or print in a scarf, don’t worry about colour, as long as you keep that insinuation of camping in a uniform with a boyish quality, everybody will look toward with as their Saviour.

Of course a world with all boys and grown men seems unquestionably controversial, and it has proved to be over history. Declared in Scout Oath and Law, the boys are obligated to be ‘morally straight and clean in thought, word, and deed’ to discourage homosexuality, and girl’s are not allowed to join at youth level, but could volunteer as leaders as older women, so not to obliterate a woman’s influence all together. When a member of any organization, one must expect a certain conduct required. The BSA contends that these policies are essential in its mission in the traditional programs to instill in young people the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Scout Oath:
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country;
To obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Scout Law:
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Scout Motto:
Be Prepared

Scout Slogan:
Do a good turn daily

Outdoor Code:
As an American, I will do my best, to be clean in my outdoor manners, to be careful with fire, to be considerate in the outdoors, and to be conservation minded

We understand the sentiment of the Boy Scouts of America, and wish more people complied with some of the codes of conduct. Being more courteous and cheerful, and always safe with fire. Let’s all take a nod from these fella’s and be considerate of our outdoors, and feel confidant in standing up for our values and goals! You won’t need badge, just get out today and be kind to someone, and be part of something larger than yourself.

Will you be gettin’ out there, whether it’s down the street or into the woods to do a good turn??

INDIA INSPIRATION.

The fashion world is a buzz for Karl Lagerfeld’s oppulent Maharajah musings in his latest collection for Chanel, Pre-Fall 2012. A grand opus to all the glamour and societal decadence you could imagine to spill from Monsieur Lagerfeld’s vivid fashion fantasies he has delivered for the last four decades.

His nod to the heyday of the royal courts of India and the evening moods of the British Raj are a spectacle [not to mention the venue itself- a feast for the eyes, done up in true Maharajah decadence], with his models donning Goan dreadlocks, and sporting nose and ear piercings of the Devadasi- he brings all the formal elegance of the court, plus a bit of rock and roll nasty to the entirety.

Mr. Chanel must have had the pleasure of viewing Ernest & Young’s “Maharajah” exhibition, which we had the pleasure of viewing last year at the AGO. Lagerfeld quotes his collection “a concept of India. More Chanel than India. The Parisian version of an India that doesn’t exist”, and we’re definitely taking the voyage.

What’s wonderful is the mix of pattern, texture, and playing with ornamentation are what really take the cake, and that’s what really makes it real rich France . . . for which Monsieur Lagerfeld is by now, a Crowned Jewel. Didn’t know he was such a Bad-Ass, or at least, his girls reflect that.

Moreover, the collection included several takes of menswear that are equally sublime in both craftsmanship, and ornamentation. We love the classic strokes, precise details and accessories, and utopian Eurasian decadence come to life, not to mention the same Bad-Ass appeal as forementioned. Lagerfeld succeeds in creating further modern mythologies of man.

Guessing it ultimately depends on your own personal Bad-ass-ness in the end of things.

Start getting ready for the forthcoming of gems, rhinestones, pearls, and paisley. Any proper Dandy knows all it takes is getting dressed in the morning. We’re seeing it tomorrow, so why not start your outfit today. Call it culture clash; more than East meets West. The Jewel in the Crown. God Save the Queen. A little Tikka Masala while we’re at it.

“All the people like us are we, and everyone else is They.”

Being shy is no mood for a king- nay, a Maharajah. Mixing textiles, patterns, and exotic jewelry with a British academia aesthetic is a surefire way to kickstart the look into the new year. Doesn’t have to be campy, at all, and treading the line between the exotic and the everyday always leads one to a higher ground. The look is spiritual and sublime, decadence and oppulence supremo.

India has been on our mind since French model extraordinaire Patrick Petijean took on the role with Nathaniel Goldberg back in 2008, fusing the wild jungles of India’s core with a fine aristocratic edge simply only for the wild at heart.

Trends come and go, but strokes of inspiration are interventions from the divine. So here goes some images to help make you walk the walk. All taken from the past, sharing with us for a newer tomorrow.

[CAUTION: In no way do we support Imperialism, the by-product of Colonialism. Imperialism was born out of the ignorance and disregard to the beautiful ethnic and cultural diversities existent in our world. Many lives have been trampled and destroyed by the armies of Imperialism- India is no exception. The world is not meant to be owned, operateted, and managed. The heydey of Imperialism is long over, but the results and consequences are still being seen today. We must learn from the past, as so greedy power-hungry leaders cannot do the same wrongs today. The war for resources is on, and we cannot make the same mistakes again.]

E.O.F. Approved: Cool Cameo Cuffs!

From 300 AD to 400 AD there was an artisan movement defining the world. The creation of the ‘cameo’ displayed itself in works of art and jewelry which we still see echoed today in modern design. You may see a more traditional take of a Cameo shown as a silhouette of a female with luscious wavy hair, but it’s these cufflink’s with a more unique take on the technique that caught our eye.

Over at Ruby Lane, they have a huge selection of fun finds and lot’s of timeless recreations. Though it was these Cameo cufflink’s from a 1950’s Dante Masterpiece collection which we spotted, and knew we had to share with the world.
