{MUSIC MINUTE} “ZODIACS” by Roberta Kelly

Well isn’t that just too totally up our alley . . . Ms. Robert Kelly sings “Zodiacs” a funky 1970s disco-era tune about our favourite astrological symbols; all performed in timelessly popping canary yellow!

Sorry Beyonce, but looks like Robert Kelly was rocking this shade of yellow far before the Queen B helped this colour take over the style scene; but that’s just the name of the game! If it was cool once, its gonna be cool forever – so, lest we forget:

{PAST}, {PRESENT}, and {FUTURE} unite!

Hold up, they don’t love you like WE love you Roberta!

Thanks for giving us this joyous tune. Hope you enjoyed it, too…

{MUSIC MINUTE} “Bad and Boujee” x “September” Soul Train Mash-Up!

when you try to be some lavish bitch, but you know you’re not.

The {PAST}, {PRESENT}, and {FUTURE} are always in beautiful syncopation with each other, and we’re not just talking style! Yes, there is a rising popularity in shopping and wearing vintage (HALLELUJAH!), and more and more high fashion designers are ripping from vintage styles- but we see this trend in movies and music, too!

Would a show like “Stranger Things” even be as popular if it weren’t set in the 80s? And we keep seeing an influx in nostalgia everywhere you go.

Give it up for Ric Wilson‘s ridiculously awesome mash-up of Migo’s hit song “Bad and Boujee” with Earth, Wind, & Fire’s iconic song “September” for a wicked funky take on this song that never ceases to make you want to put on a wicked outfit and look fly AF.

Take a listen!

We know it’s not everyone’s cup a’ tea, but you can’t deny how perfectly these two jams sync up – not to mention how awesome it is always to watch Soul Train dancers shred the dance floor.

So, in this spirit, we were inspired by both the “Bad and Boujee” video, as well as the funkedelic soul of the 1970s to bring you a few options to invoke the spirit!

{MUSIC MINUTE} Galt MacDermot’s First Natural Hair Band ‘s “Walking in Space”

+How dare they try to end this beauty+

In honour of our talented cast and crew of ‘HAIR’ and our three show weekend starting tonight, we are sending out this lovely {MUSIC MINUTE} to the universe featuring Galt MacDermot’s First Natural Hair Band, and one of our personal favourite songs of the show “Walking in Space”.

HAIR- Hamilton Theatre Inc- 2016 - Polaroid

It is alleged that Galt MacDermot wrote the entire score for ‘HAIR’ in only three weeks, and initially with at least 30 songs per act.

+Bad Ass Galt MacDermot orchestrating the groovy revolution+

‘HAIR’ is labelled a rock musical, but according to MacDermot, he saw his music more alluding to the funk wave that was stirring through music at the time. And while we remember many of the show’s lustrous melodies, it is truly the powerful rhythms of the show that give the show its unique pulse.

If you ask us, it is the music in partnership with the timeless challenges of ‘HAIR’ that truly make it great.

All aboard the train to Mainline with stops in Pottsville and Moonville . . .

 Hope you enjoy!

Until we meet again,

The Eye of Faith Shop Banner Boys

There are Giants in the Sky (and in the Middle of My Small Town…Twerking Like They Did in the 60s)

Village of the Giants- 1965- rebel rockabilly classic pop -Vintage Clothing Style Inspirations- The Eye of Faith- 4

So they didn’t twerk in the 60s, but the dance moves in this 1960s B-Movie cult classic, “Village of the Giants“, was more than risqué and still delivers on undoubted sex appeal.

We can’t help but love the attention the camera pays to the beautiful natural curves and flesh of the actors who really know how to jiggle their juices. It’s cool to see how in 1965, a small flick like this can in many ways be more sexually tempting and stimulating than the in-your-face provocations of today’s movie and music video scene. It’s so simple…and sometimes that is all it takes!

See them burst out their clothes, and terrorize a town!

(I’m in . . .)

There’s a real ‘edginess’, as we say these days, to it all, and the music is great too. Leave it to misfits teens to make everything fun . . .

When a group of rebel misfits get their hands on “goo”, a mysterious compound that makes every GIANT, who didn’t see some wild dance parties starting? Even in the middle of perfect All-American Hainesville, where ducks roam the sidewalks and white picket fences are for everyone, you can’t stop a gang of rebellious teens from having fun, ESPECIALLY when they are fifty feet tall (give or take).

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 50 years since this film hit the screen for the first time, but it is still remembered as a cult classic with notable special effects for its time, and undoubted sex appeal.

Full of exuberant and fresh classic styles, and plenty of 1960s psychedelic fun!

Get ready to dance with the giants . . .

JUST THINKING….

On the subject of rebel misfit teens: How cool would ‘The Bling Ring‘ have been if they were just giants?!

Imagine  . . .

Oh, dancing . . .

Until next time!

Be sure to visit the {SHOP} while the pieces are still around!

They are going fast these days, and we don’t want you to miss out . . .
