{Style-Wise} Kurt Russell IS “The Thing” (1982) [Vintage Winter Menswear Inspiration]

Kurt Russell is The Thing (1982)- Bad Ass Vintage Menswear - Winter edition- The Eye of Faith [vi]

With winter in full force, we couldn’t help but search for some credible vintage inspiration to set the mood for us here, and make the frigid cold all the more bearable and at least something fun to emulate through the day. Fight that cold with some bold bad-ass style.

Change your attitude, and you can change your life. Sometimes the clothes on your back really help. . .

Kurt Russell is The Thing (1982)- Goggles Goggles Goggles- Bad Ass Vintage Menswear - Winter edition- The Eye of Faith

Kurt Russell is totally bad-ass in John Carpenter’s 1982 Horror classic, “The Thing”. Playing a scientist at a base in Antarctica who stumbles upon an ancient evil that can hide amongst humans undetected, Russell conjures some real classic conservative cool even while he battles the odds in a sub zero hell-on-earth.

It’s all about the goggles, the big hats, the poofy jackets. And remember, sun glasses aren’t out-of-bounds just because it’s cold. Let them protect you from sun glare while you shovel and feel fucking cool while you do it. Not cold, because you’ll remember to wear a good scarf, and no, your beard does not count (but do grow it).

The point is to stay warm. Pick classic pieces and you don’t ever have to worry.  Even if you have to cover everything. I feel like there’s no real rules in winter when you need to stay warm.

An exciting event has been announced by Turner Classic Movies along with Universal, in celebration of Alfred Hitchcock’s seminal 1963 classic The Birds, and in honor of its upcoming 50th Anniversary will be presenting TCM Event Series Presents The Birds, a special engagement screening of this Horror Classic in select theaters across the US.

On September 19 the event that features TCM host, Robert Osborne, giving an introduction to the film, will also feature an exclusive interview with the film’s blonde bombshell, Tippi Hedren, and how she was picked for her iconic role.

Rebel Yell with a Touch of Evil: Miharayasuhiro Men S/S13

We are moved by the beautiful designs coming from Miharayasuhiro. Inspired by David Lynch’s “Wild at Heart” and the python jacket Nicolas Cage wore in the film, Mihara Yasuhiro’s appealingly offbeat collection is having the fashion crowd singing praises. And here @TheEyeOfFaith, we are feeling this!

Rockabilly Preppy Goth dudes splashed in paint, some head to toe, made for a truly easy-chic vibe with an edge normally seen with Links and Chains in Nashville. We saw Hairdo’s that have got us combing our hair differently. We love love love the collection overall. Lots of variety with some stark-hard subtly.

We bring you a series of backstage shots by Dirk Alexander from Models.com.  We can envision ourselves sliding into any one of these looks.  Cool simple colour story, lots of beige and white’s mixed with leather’s and black mesh.  A James Dean Rebel red Members Only jacket sets the tone for the whole collection.  We are feeling a Fight Club feel for 2013 with the forever stylish Python.  This is a collection that for SURE stands out this season.

E.O.F. Approved: Vintage ‘Flying Tigers’ Jacket

The famous Flying Tigers fighter squadrons of WWII definitely were a group of bad-ass troops! Being the “1st American Volunteer Group” (AVG) of the Chinese Air Force between 1941-1942. While most of the news in the U.S. came back in defeat by Japanese Forces, the ‘Flying Tigers’ used innovation, skill, and above all style, to make a crash landing fight to victory. Some also argue the men as mercenaries working under hefty contracts from the Chinese Government. Either way, we have to admit these men had some guts.

Check out this extremely rare WWII Avirex A-2 Chinese Air Force Bomber Flight Military Leather Jacket (say that three times fast). Such great condition, and with a story to tell too. Takes a real hero to pull this one off.

When looking for vintage leather pieces, always look for that beautiful distressing that happens to leather when it’s been worn. Why spend a lifetime getting a jacket to the most perfect soft wear, if you can get one whose already had a lifetime of use? And in this case, very exciting use!

Check out the Blood Chit tag at the back! This is the most fascinating bit of history sewn on the back with the Blood Chit used to identify a friend. Love seeing clothes as a communication tool on such a huge level.

Keep history alive, and rock this coat with a slick pair of dark denim jeans, and a simple white t-shirt. Couldn’t even imagine a cooler coat.

Want it? Check it out.
