{MUSIC MINUTE} “SIGNS” by Beyoncé !

Beyoncé is notorious for flashing signs, but this one isn’t about that.

This one comes straight at your from the dawn of a new era ….2003, when the Queen B went solo with our album “Crazy in Love”, and the rest is history! This track in particular is one that many people overlook when they talk of the album, however, it is a wonderful ode to the Zodiac, and with Sagitarius season fresh in bloom, there couldn’t be a better tune to pay homage to it!

I wish in love with a Sagitarius . . .

Beyoncé

Every sign gets a little shout out, but she definitely loves her Sagiatrius (Jay-Z) but can’t help signing about how amazing her own sign is (she is a text book Virgo)…I guess we all have our biases when it comes to that. Missy Elliot also pops up in the song, so please enjoy for now!

She loves all the signs, and so do we! We are each unique and couldn’t complete a year without one of them, so thank you for your contributions to the Universe!

{MUSIC MINUTE} “GIGI IN PARADISCO” by +DALIDA+

Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti ( 17 January 1933 – 3 May 1987) better known as Dalida (داليدا‎)

+Before Beyonce there was Dalida.+

This exotic beauty of Italian descent and born in Cairo, Egypt rose to international fame throughout the 1960s and all the way to her suicide in the 1980s. A suicide over a broken heart only days after appearing in television interviews perfectly normal…love was her worst enemy in life.

She sold upwards of 140 million albums; Beyonce has sold 17 million solo, and 17 million with Destiny’s Child which really puts it into perspective (although, our girl Rihanna has sold upwards of 230 million records, so . . . ).

Special thanks to +THE ULTIMATE FASHION HISTORY+ Channel and its fabulous curator Amanda Halley for introducing us to this dazzling Diva. I’m sure we will focus on her again in future posts! The more you dive into her memory, the  more incredible she becomes.

There was actually a biopic released in 2017 about her which we are dying to see! Check out the trailer here.

This is a wonderful disco extravaganza from 1979-1980 (?) entitled “GIGI IN PARADISCO”. It’s a total odyssey of 1970s crazy euro party glamour!

Let us know what you think in +COMMENTS+ below…

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance…

I hope you dance!

Until next time,

{MUSIC MINUTE} “ZODIACS” by Roberta Kelly

Well isn’t that just too totally up our alley . . . Ms. Robert Kelly sings “Zodiacs” a funky 1970s disco-era tune about our favourite astrological symbols; all performed in timelessly popping canary yellow!

Sorry Beyonce, but looks like Robert Kelly was rocking this shade of yellow far before the Queen B helped this colour take over the style scene; but that’s just the name of the game! If it was cool once, its gonna be cool forever – so, lest we forget:

{PAST}, {PRESENT}, and {FUTURE} unite!

Hold up, they don’t love you like WE love you Roberta!

Thanks for giving us this joyous tune. Hope you enjoyed it, too…

Until we meet again,

Music Minute: Diana Ross – “Last Time I Saw Him” on The Muppets Show {1980}

As we mentioned in a previous post, 1980 was a fantastic time for The Muppets Show, their roster of guest hosts were truly extraordinary.  Today we share with you a day that was no  exception.  Ms. Ross stepped in  and filled the half hour with joy using her effervescent way like no other.  Glamour Glitter, Fashion and Fame, Diana Ross is everything Stardom is.

We share the clip of her singing her 1973 hit, Last time I saw him, on the 424 Episode of The Muppets Show in 1980.   Starting out backstage with just Floyd Pepper and Dr. Teeth, eventually moving the performance onstage with the rest of the Electric Mayhem.

Music Minute: Fosse’s “Rich Man’s Frug”

This one can’t be beat. Always thought Fosse was a genius, but this one cements it. It’s fun, it’s freaky, it’s twisted, it’s uncomfortable, it’s strange – it’s positively goofy; but every second of it is pure vintage magic!

Superstars Beyonce and Lady Gaga have learned and taken a lot from the legendary choreographer/director extraordinaire, but unfortunately for them, the original just can’t be beat!

Bob Fosse was a true dare-devil in every sense of the word. Just check out those dance moves – looks simple, then just try to hold it, and I dare you DANCE the number. His dancers are immensely talented, especially Ben Vereen who manages to steal the show (three years before his Tony win for Fosse’s “Pippin”).

Go to it for the costumes, the music, the dancing, the sexy men and women – just make sure to stay all the way up to the “Big Finish” !!!

Little did critics pay attention to the innovative camerawork that Fosse had meticulously obsessed over. However, almost fifty years later the shots explode. The scene ignites! If anyone could do it like this today, they’d be set for life!

If you enjoy dancing, and I know you all do, you’ll be trying to get this one done. This is one song we wouldn’t mind being stuck in a dance-mob full of people with.

Enjoy!
