Style Wise: “The Stars Are Born at Cannes”

Musing over this year’s line-up of au-courant and soon-to-be stars and starlets made us Crazy for Cannes. Over the years we can see what a special place Cannes has and continues to be for the rich and fabulous, so we couldn’t help but take a trip to that fabulous strip in the South of France where stars are absolutely born.  Always doing it The Eye of Faith way, of course.

Here you will find some candid moments, and hopefully a few smiles on the way. Above is Director Michael Camus with the star of his 1959 film “Black Orpheus”, a bold retelling of the Virgil myth set against the backdrop of Carnivale in Rio De Janeiro. The film would go on to win the Festival’s highest honour that year, and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Below are some of our own private icons, and the way they did it! Andy Warhol, Cary Grant, John Lennon, Jane Birkin, Diana Ross, and Brigitte Bardot, to name a few. But see who else you can spot in there!

We just love the spectacle of it all! Stars will be stars, and they must fall from the sky at night and all land in Cannes. Here you will find a different kind of star, and a different freedom only the French could provide. They laugh and play, and enjoy the sun for a day, but after it’s over starts the races.

In the meantime, it’s best to just enjoy your time. Kick back and relax. After all, you know what they say: “What happens in Cannes, stays in Cannes.” So good thing we have these glorious glimpses into the very cosmos of celebrity, don’t you think!? We think so too.

Please enjoy!

Style Wise: “The Stars are Born at Cannes” … before Paris Hilton and the like dominated the scene, Cannes use to be the hot spot for retro movie stars. Oh, how we’d love a vacation to the movie premiers.
